Skin Notes
Your skin in perimenopause
January 2025 · 8 min read
Oestrogen is one of skin's quietest collaborators. As it declines, collagen production slows, oil production drops, and the barrier becomes more reactive. The skin you knew at thirty-five is not the skin you have at forty-eight, and that is not a personal failing.
What helps: gentler cleansers, richer occlusives at night, a daily SPF, and patience with anything that promises overnight change. What also helps: speaking to someone who has formulated through this transition.
We see this in consultation more than any other concern. You are not alone, and your skin is not broken. It is simply asking for something different.
